Saqib Rahman - IT Resident at Google

What happened one year after completing my internship

Hi, my name is Saqib and I’m currently working as an IT Resident for the Network Engineering team at Google, Australia. I came to Australia as a master’s student at Macquarie University in 2018. I completed the internship in IT Networking at ITIC in early 2020. A few weeks after I completed my internship with ITIC, I landed a role with Telstra as a NOC Engineer, followed by my current role at Google.

While Macquarie University prepared me with the technical know-how to face the IT industry as a potential job applicant, ITIC provided me with the necessary industrial training, certifications and hands-on experience that enabled me to apply for many IT roles across the industry. I have ITIC to thank for giving me the opportunity to be mentored by professionals in the field and guiding me constantly to pursue my dreams of becoming a Network Engineer.

My advice to future students and interns would be to follow through with your plans, never give up on your dreams and never be afraid to ask questions because when the going gets tough, the tough gets going!
